Final Report: Campylobacter Outbreak Associated With Consumption Of Raw Milk, May–June 2011

Epidemiologists with the State of Alaska published the final report on 4 illnesses linked to consumption of contaminated raw milk purchased through a herd share arrangement in Alaska.

Based on membership records from the herd share, they calculated that at most 0.6% of Alaskans consumed raw milk from the implicated dairy (Farm A) in a given week. Using the binomial distribution, the probability of finding 4 out of 4 Alaskans chosen at random to be Farm A raw milk consumers is ~0.0000000013.
